We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sean Morris as the new OURFU Rugby Development Officer to replace Andy Highton, who left in January to take up a similar role with the RFU in Nottingham. Sean should be well to known everybody as he has been involved with the club since September 2008 when he came up to Oxford from Essex as an undergraduate to study Physiological Sciences at Somerville College, followed by a Masters in Contemporary Indian Studies at Trinity College. Sean took a gap year prior to starting at Oxford, when he was part of the Saracens Academy, but decided that the academic route was a better career path. Sean has now won three Blues, starting on the wing in the 2008 Varsity Match victory, was an unused replacement in the loss in 2009, played at centre in the 2010 victory and then reverted back to the wing for another win in 2011. In 2012 Sean took on the role of part-time strength & conditioning coach for the club, a position he will continue to fulfill alongside his primary role as the RDO. The remit of the RDO is wide and varied, but includes increasing participation numbers in college rugby, developing student referees & coaches, engaging with the local community in schools and clubs and helping to promote attendances at OURFC matches at Iffley Road and The Varsity Match. Sean is very much looking forward to the challenge and continuing his association with Oxford University Rugby.
