With just three matches to go before the Varsity Match, the 93rd edition of this historic annual fixture between OURFC and the Major Stanley’s XV carries great significance for the 2013 Blues squad.  With places all over the park still up for grabs, it is another opportunity for players to put down a marker and impress Captain John Carter and Head Coach James Wade. The squad are short of a few influential players who sit this fixture out with knocks that have not come right in time; these include Captain Carter, second row Will Rowlands, prop Ian Williams scrum-half Sam Egerton and centre Gavin Turner. However, the squad still has plenty of experience to call in with nine Blues in the starting XV. The Stanley’s XV has once again been put together through the hard work of two former OURFC Captains – Fraser Gemmell and Andy Dalgleish – assisted by Henley Hawks backs coach Pete Davies. Dalgleish and Davies will coach the side on the day and they include three US Eagles and two members of the Russian squad in the starting XV, plus several players with Premiership/Championship experience, plus a couple of former OURFC players too.
Kick off is at 3.30pm, with gates open from 2.00pm, entry is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £3 for students.
Please note there will be no parking available at the ground unless you have a permit specific to this match. For alternatives, please visit the Contact Us section of the website.
