Action from the recent match against Sydney University

The Blues put together a comprehensive performance to out class a young Esher side by 40 points to 8 in their last outing pre-the 2013 Varsity Match. The first half saw the sides evenly matched and the Blues go in ahead by just 14 points to 8 with tries from fly-half Jacob Taylor (Keble) and No 8 John Carter (Kellogg), both of which Taylor converted. In reply Esher scored an unconverted try from their right wing and a well struck penalty from their fly-half. The second half however belonged to the Blues as they added four further tries with none in reply from full-back Ed Doe (Kellogg), prop James Wisson (St Anne’s), hooker Fraser Heathcote (St Edmund Hall) and scrum-half Jack Davidson (St Hugh’s), with Doe converting three. The coaches will now spend the next ten days fine tuning the squad in preparation for the 132nd Varsity Match to take place at Twickenham on Thursday 12th December, kick off 2.00pm.
