The Greyhounds aim of reaching a second consecutive Oxfordshire County Cup Final, came to an abrupt halt as they went down by 22 0points to 7 at Witney on Sunday afternoon. On a heavy pitch and against a large home pack the Hounds were not able to play their usual expansive style and were ultimately undone by a superior Witney scrum. Witney started the better playing with a strong wind at their backs but could only manage a solitary penalty as dogged Hounds defence kept them at bay. That proved to be the only score of the half and 5 minutes into the second half the Hounds took the lead when wing Dom Oboh burst away before releasing his captain Graeme MacGilchrist to score under the posts for Jack Davidson to convert. However, instead of kicking on from here to get the win, Witney came back strongly and on the back of their scrum scored three unanswered trys, two of which were converted to take the spoils 22 – 7.
