The Blues host the Penguins tonight, Wednesday 26th February, in their penultimate match of the 2013/14 season and despite a number of key players being unavailable with injury or academic commitments, Captain Jacob Taylor (Keble) is able to call upon nine Blues in his starting XV. Due to the heavy rainfall experienced since the start of the year, the Blues have managed to play just three matches this term all against the services, beating the RAF and the Royal Navy and losing narrowly to a strong Army outfit. The Blues have not beaten the Penguins for a number of years and will be keen to notch another victory this term as they build towards the 2014 Varsity Match; the Penguins however will be keen to continue their winning streak in Oxford, particularly after losing to Cambridge University three weeks ago.
The winners of tonight’s encounter will receive the magnificent Alan Wright Trophy, which was donated by former OURFC Captain Bill Calcraft in 2012 to honour Penguins founder Mr Alan Wright, who we sincerely hope will be at Iffley Road tonight to present the trophy to the winning Captain.
Kick off is at 7.30pm with the gates open form 6.00pm, tickets are priced at just £5 for adults and £2 for concessions (over 60’s, under 18’s & students). Please note there will be no parking available at the ground tonight.
The Blues squad is as follows:
Lewis Anderson, Sam Arras, Harry Beale, James Bennington, Will Boardman, Henry de Berker, Sam Dumigan, Nick Gardner, Michael Hannah, Fraser Heathcote, Henry Hughes, Dean Irvine, Gus Jones, Alexander Macdonald, Julien Morlet, Steven Patch, George Postlethwaite, James Scaiffe, Matthew Shorthose, Ben Symington, Jacob Taylor, Guy Western, Chris Williams, Ian Williams, Sebastian Williams
