Gus Jones with the 2014 Junior World Championship Trophy

Gus Jones (St Catherine’s) helped England U20’s retain their World Championship Crown when they overcame South Africa by 21 points to 20 in a titanic final at Eden Park, Auckland on Friday morning. Unfortunately Gus enjoyed mixed fortunes as he had ten minutes in the blood bin in the first half to have five stitches in a cut above his right eye and was replaced permanently at half time because of the head knock. However, this should not distract from the impact he had on England’s performance in the tournament where he featured in all five matches, scoring four tries. We look forward welcoming Gus back into the OURFC family in September when he will attempt to win a third Blue at Twickenham in December.
