The Greyhounds travelled to Grange Road on Wednesday afternoon to try and add the Whippets win the previous day, but unfortunately they came back to Oxford empty handed as a well drilled but limited Cambridge LX Club took the spoils in a tense match 27 points to 20. The Cambridge game plan was based on a strategy of winning penalties and kicking to the corner to set up a very well constructed line-out catch and drive which directly lead to four of their five tries. The Greyhounds looked dangerous when they kept the ball in hand and tried to play a more expansive style of rugby, but they did not secure enough possession and mistakes at crucial times left Cambridge with the bragging rights on this occasion. All eyes now turn to Thursday 11th December at Twickenham, when a number of the Greyhounds players will use Wednesday’s loss as an extra motivating factor as they have another crack at Cambridge with the U21’s or Blues.
