Scrum half Henry de Berker in action in the 2014 encounter

George Messum (St Anne’s) will lead the Blues for the first time tonight (Wednesday 11th February) as official OURFC Captain, following his election in January against possibly the toughest opposition of the term, the Army at Aldershot, kick off 1915.

George has been able to call upon twelve Blues from the Twickenham Varsity squad, for what is always a formidable task taking on the might of the British Army on their home turf as they continue their preparations for the 2015 Inter-Services competition and in particular the Army v Navy Match for the Babcock Trophy on Saturday 9th May at Twickenham. With this fixture plus just three more before the end of the 15-a-side season, George and Head Coach James Wade will be very keen to see how the younger guys step-up into the senior rugby environment as they start their preparations for the 2015 Varsity Campaign.

Oxfords last visit to Aldershot in February 2013 saw a young Blues team record a fine 24 points to 13 win, however last year on a very cold wet January night at Iffley Road the Army gained revenge with a dogged 15 points to 7 win, so it is game on for tonight!
