Former OUWRFC player and Captain Katie Sage has been selected to represent Great Britain in the International Tag Federation World Cup which will take place in Australia 3-7 December 2015.
Katie joined Oxford in 2009 straight from school and was a committed member of OUWRFC from the off. In her four years playing for the club, she gained three full Blues, one of them winning, before leading the 2013 squad to the first double victory in nine years, ensuring both the Panthers and Blues brought trophies back to Oxford. She was also awarded player of the match in 2011 Varsity and Greatest Contribution to OUWRFC in 2013. Off the field, Katie achieved a First Class Honours in Jurisprudence from Pembroke College before going onto gain the Bachelors of Civil Law from Hertford College.
On leaving Oxford, Katie turned her attention from contact rugby to its non-contact cousin and took up playing Tag Rugby in March 2014. Since then she has represented Great Britain Ladies in international series against Australia and Ireland, being named player of the series in the latter which GB won 3-0. She also helped her team, Tumeke, secure the accolade of Champions of Europe in 2014 and they are looking to defend that title on 11th July 2015 in Limerick.
Later this year she will travel to Australia to represent Great Britain Mixed Open at the 2015 World Cup and we would like to wish her the best of luck. For more information please follow the link below:
