OURFC are delighted to acknowledge the support and sponsorship of Rhino Rugby for the World University Rugby Cup tournament we are hosting in Oxford from the 13th to 21st September 2015.
Rhino will provide the match balls and in addition practice balls, and water bottles & carriers for all eight participating teams.
Former Oxford Blue and Rhino CEO Reg Clark commented: “It’s a pleasure for Rhino to support this excellent initiative by OURFC, which we all hope will produce a lasting legacy from RWC 2015 with Waseda University taking up the baton to stage the next event in Tokyo in 2019. I am particularly delighted on a personal level that the presence of the Waseda team enables the tournament to kick off on Sunday 13th September with a game played against the Blues for the Oku Memorial Trophy. As an alumnus of both universities, and the first Japanese national ever to play for the Blues XV, Ambassador Katsuhiko Oku, who was tragically killed whilst on diplomatic duty with the UN post-war humanitarian programme in Iraq in 2003, symbolises for me the spirit of the World University Rugby Cup tournament. Rhino and OURFC have supported an annual tournament for this trophy for some years and playing the opening game in his memory for this trophy, presented by former Prime Minister Mori, President of the Japan RFU, is a great way to kick the tournament off”.
