The Greyhounds travelled to Henley on Wednesday night and produced an accomplished performance to win by 25 points to 14 which pleased both coach Mike ‘Hoggy’ Rickner and OURFC Captain George Messum as a number of players still look to stake a claim for Blues selection come December. The first half was tale of the boot, as the Henley fly-half and the Greyhounds captain Basil Strang took it turns to knock over penalties, however it was the Doggies skipper who proved the more reliable as he converted all five of his attempts whilst the Henley ten, managed just three from four to make the score at the interval 15 points to 9 in favour of the visitors. The second half saw both teams cross for a try, first to score were Henley when their prop drove over from 5 metres to narrow the score to one point as the conversion was missed. The Greyhounds hit back soon after when they produced the best move of the game started by replacement second row Hugo McPherson who broke the line to make good yardage before off-loading, the ball went wide and then was turned back inside to the impressive young No 8 Jacob Goss who scooted in from 20 metres to dot down under the posts, Strang duly converting teh staright forward conversion. The last act of the game was fittingly played out by Strang who kicked his sixth penalty to take his personal points tally on the night to 20 and ensure an impressive victory for the Oxford University 2nd XV.

The Greyhounds next fixture will be on Wednesday 11th November against yet to be confirmed opposition.
