Action from the Oxford v Richmond fixture at Iffley Road in 1952

The Blues final game before they head to Twickenham for the 134th Varsity sees them welcome Richmond to Iffley Road for a 3.00pm kick-off on Sunday afternoon. For the previous ten or more years this last game pre-Varsity has been played away from home so it is hoped that a large crowd will turn out to see the Blues off on style prior to their date with Cambridge at the home of English rugby on Thursday 10th December.

Coach James Wade and Captain George Messum have selected an enlarged squad for this difficult fixture, with players still trying to impress ahead of final selection but at the same time nervous about picking up an untimely injury. Returning to the squad on Sunday following a rest against London Scottish on Tuesday are tight-head Ian Williams and fly-half George Cullen who will add power and guile to the Blues side.

Richmond bring a strong side to Iffley Road, including former Oxford Blue wing Will Browne who will be looking forward to another outing on the hallowed Iffley Road turf!

The Jackdaw Lane gate and Pavilion bar will be open from 1.00pm with the Iffley Road gate open at 2.15pm. Entry is £5 for adults and £2 for concessions, with the usual parking restrictions in place.
