On a Day where Iffley Road was bathed in glorious sunshine the scene was set for OURFU’s inaugural Women’s Cuppers Tournament with 4 College cluster teams competing for the chance to take the field in on ‘Super Final’s Day’ as the pre-cursor to the men’s final.
Under the watchful eye of OURFC Women’s coaches Gary Street and Ali Mortimore, there was some fantastic rugby played between 4 evenly matched sides during the pool stages where 25% of the participants were brand new to the game with this their 1st experience of competitive contact rugby. This lead to the semi-finals being wide open with anyone of the 4 teams capable of progressing to the final. However it was Teddy Hall, ChCh, Univ and Wadham who progressed first by beating New, Exeter, LMH, Hertford, Balliol & PMB 21 -0, they were shortly followed by St Anne’s, St John’s, St Hilda’s & St Catz or their adopted name ‘’THE ALL SAINTS’ who defeated Keble & Mansfield 14 – 0 to claim the other spot in the final.
The Women’s Cuppers Final will kick-off at 4.00pm on Saturday 7th May.
