The squad post game at Loughborough

On Wednesday afternoon the Women’s Blues rounded off their preseason with an away match at Loughborough. This was a forward dominated match from the whistle, with some heavy carries from all the pack. Loughborough took an early lead as their captain slipped through a gap in the defence to run the length of the pitch, however the Dark Blues hit back hard when Caitlin McArdle crossed over after several phases of attack, with the conversion from the touchline hitting the post, the home side were 7-5 up. Loughborough put some more points on the board when they went over in the corner but the Dark Blues once more responded as prop Peker managed to punch through the ‘purple’ defence to make the score 12-10. The Blue’s stayed in contact for the majority of the match and were unlucky when a strong break from Loughborough put them ahead. The last quarter saw the Blues fighting hard in the Loughborough 22 but they were unable to capitalise on Loughborough’s mistakes, leaving the final score at 17-10.  Overall, a strong performance from the Dark Blues and an exciting preview of what is to come!
