Friday 25th November see’s the start of the 2016 ‘Varsity Series’ where the Oxford University RFC Colleges XV take on their Counterparts from Cambridge at Iffley Road. Last year saw the Oxford side beat Cambridge convincingly at Grange Road however the squad are under no illusions that this year will be quite as easy, Cambridge will be well prepared having played four warm up fixtures in preparation for the big day.
The coaching team of Joe Winpenny and Mike Williams have been ably assisted this year by Ant Kalindjian and Aaron John Henry. Selection of the squad each year proves a real challenge for the coaches as more and more members of the College Rugby community put themselves forward for selection which shows how much this fixture means to our College Clubs and Players. However after weeks of preparation the final squad has been selected which will be Captained by Oakley Cox who will lead the side for the second year running in what is due to be his final representative game for the University after completing his studies this year. All at OURFC and OURFU would like to thank Oakley for his commitment and dedication to all things Rugby within the University.
