Renowned rugby brand, Rhino, is to become the new Official Teamwear and Apparel Partner of the historic Varsity Matches between Oxford and Cambridge universities at Twickenham Stadium.
The Varsity Match is one of the oldest sporting fixtures in the world, dating back to 1872, and Cardiff-based Rhino Teamwear has signed a multi-year-deal to not only supply on field and training wear but also create a new range of sport and lifestyle clothing for both Oxford University RFC and Cambridge University RUFC men’s and women’s squads.
David Searle, CEO of The Varsity Match Company said: “We are delighted to welcome Rhino as a partner of The Varsity Matches. Rhino are a well established and well known name in the world of rugby, with some very prestigious partners. We look forward to working closely with Rhino over the coming years, celebrating one of the oldest fixtures in rugby.”
Dave Reynish, Managing Director of Rhino Teamwear commented: “The Varsity Match remains one of the biggest dates in the British rugby calendar. It’s very much an institution of the game and we’re very proud to be providing the kit for the men’s and women’s teams of these historic clubs – Oxford University RFC and Cambridge University RUFC.
“It’s a testament to our reputation within the teamwear industry and the quality of the Rhino products that we’re going to be showcased by, arguably, the two most famous rugby-playing universities in the world.
“We’re going to be creating a kit that reflects the great tradition of the fixture, but also meets the needs of the modern-day rugby side. There’s also going to be a supporters range that will be in-keeping with the heritage of these famous sides.
Reg Clark, CEO of Rhino, and an Oxford Blue said: “Oxford and Cambridge are very welcome additions to our partner stable that includes The British & Irish Lions, England Rugby, the Welsh Rugby Union, the RBS 6 Nations and the Guinness PRO12 – we are, as a brand, very active in the student sports sector and are delighted to be involved with these historic university clubs and this iconic fixture”.
