Action from last night's match

Another busy day for the Men’s and Women’s Blues, unfortunately saw two more losses. The women lost their final BUCS Premier league match to a strong Cardiff Metropolitan University team by 36 points to 7, but this was once again an encouraging performance looking ahead to next season. The women’s next match is in the quarter-final of the BUCS Cup when they travel to Scotland to take on Edinburgh University on Wednesday 28th February.

In the evening the men welcomed the Crawshays Welsh RFC and on a glue pot of a pitch found the experience and size of the Welsh invitational side too much to counter as they lost 29 points to 14. It was the visitors who started the brighter, and were 12 points up after just 10 minutes before the Blues hit back with two tries of their own from back-row forwards Charlie Pozniak and Sam Miller, both converted by fly-half Conor Kearns to lead at the interval 14 – 12. Due to the conditions the second half became a scrappy affair but the more powerful Crawshays pack were able to get a foothold and field possession resulting in them adding a further three unanswered tries, one of which was converted to make the final score 29 points to 14.

OURFC would like to thank the Pointer at Brill for their match sponsorship. The Blues welcome another invitational side to Iffley Road when the Penguins come calling next Wednesday 21st February, kick-off 1930.
