On Friday 1st June, Iffley Road played host to the RAF Centenary 7’s Tournament and the men’s Blues came out victorious. In their pool they enjoyed comfortable victories over the RAF Hurricanes and the Jungle Crows from India, setting up a semi-final with the British Army Development 7. In a tough, physical encounter, the young Blues side stepped up a gear to see off the Army team who had a number of Fijians in their ranks to set up a final with the Swiss National team, branded the Switzers.

Under the shrewd guidance of coach Sam Edgerley, himself a former England 7’s International, the Blues produced an almost flawless performance to win the final by 17 points to nil and take home the trophy.

Will Wilson, who gained his first England 7’s cap at Hong Kong back in March, was voted the Player of the Tournament, but it was a true squad effort that was the foundation of the the Blues success.
