Following the departure of World Cup winning coach Gary Street and Harlequins Ladies forwards coach Ali Mortimer, OURFC today announced the new coaching team for the women’s section for the upcoming 2018-19 season: Head Coach Kevin Moggridge will be joined at Iffley Road by Luke Cozens.
Moggridge, affectionately known as Moggy among the playing group, has plenty of experience at the top levels of women’s rugby, as a previous forwards coach for England Women’s U20’s and most recently Head Coach of Sweden Ladies and Director of Rugby for Cardiff Met Women’s Rugby.
Cozens is a professional fly-half currently plying his trade in France having previously featured in the England U20’s and Bath Academy. His coaching positions include Head Coach of the Rouen University Ladies XV and kicking specialist for Hartpury College.
Alongside the personnel announcement, the Women’s Blues have unveiled a new sponsorship deal, with the Vodafone Procurement Company partnering with OURFC Women to help fund their preseason tour to CN Poblenou in Barcelona with the primary purpose of expediting familiarity with their new coaching team.
Women’s Blues Captain Abby D’Cruz said “Trinity Term has been a really successful period for us, having secured a phenomenal coaching team and the support of one of the world’s biggest brands. It’s all added to a real sense of excitement and anticipation within the squad as we build towards the Women’s Varsity Match in its 30th Anniversary year on Thursday 6th December at Twickenham. We can’t wait for what lies ahead.”
