A memorable night for OURFC saw the Men’s Blues come within a score of claiming the scalp of Canada at Iffley Road on Wednesday in front of a crowd in excess of 1500. With just four games to go until Varsity the squad were out to make a statement and for 40 minutes it certainly looked as thought an upset was on the cards as the Blues trailed by just 1 point 14 – 13 at half time.
The first 20 minutes of the second half ultimately decided the outcome as the Canadians dominated possession and territory and extended their lead to 26 points to 13. However, the 20128 Blues squad showed great spirit to mount a rally in the last 10 minutes and were rewarded for their endeavour with a penalty try in the last action of a compelling encounter.
The squad now enjoy a few days to recover before they start preparations for their visit to Dublin on Saturday 10th November to face Trinity College.
