On Wednesday afternoon the Women’s Blues played their final BUCS League match before Varsity against last years Champions Exeter at Iffley Road. The Blues came out of the blocks fast and scored after just five minutes when scrum-half Georgia Ling spotted a gap following a strong catch and drive line out to scoot over from short range. Despite a spirited performance, unfortunately this was Oxford’s only score of the afternoon, as the experienced visitors showed their class to convert opportunities in to scores in spite of a strong defensive effort from the home side. The final score was 53 – 5 in favour of the 2018 BUCS Champions.
The Blues now have one more match pre-Varsity when they have a friendly lined up next Wednesday at Iffley Road to fine tune their plans for Twickenham.
