On Wednesday night the Men’s Blues return to action for their first match since reclaiming the Varsity Trophy at Twickenham in December, when they travel to face Bristol University, kick off 7.15pm at the Coombe Dingle Sports Park.
Newly elected Captain Ed David has been able to select 12 Blues in his starting XV, with young Charlie Pozniak leading the side from the second row, whilst Ed has an observing brief from the side-lines. As is tradition in Hilary Term, a number of younger players will gain experience of Blues rugby and on Wednesday fly-half Louis Pincott and full-back James Dempsey start their first games for the University senior side, whilst hooker Louis Wright and prop Barney Vaughan – both Freshman – will look to make their debuts off the bench.
The fixture will be the first time the two University 1st XV’s will play for the Evans/Trophy, Oxford having won the trophy on the three previous occasions at 3rd XV level.
