The Women’s Blues produced an outstanding second half come-back against Swansea University in the BUCS Vase Final at Nottingham on Wednesday, but ended running out of time to end up runners-up by 20 points to 17.

The early start to the day, a 7am departure from Iffley road, appeared to have an adverse effect on the Oxford team as they found themselves 15 point to nil behind at the interval and then 20 points behind 5 minutes into the second half. However, the final 30 minutes belonged to the Dark Blues as they repeatedly pressed the Swansea line and were rewarded with tries one of which was converted to narrow the gap to just three points, but time eventually ran out for the Dark Blues as they looked for the score to snatch victory at the death.
