On Saturday afternoon at Iffley Road the Whippets will contest their second Oxfordshire County Shield Final in three seasons after claiming the trophy at the first time of asking in March 2017. This season’s campaign has seen the Whippets beat three local club sides on route to the final, Faringdon, Wheatley and Abingdon and now face Oxford RFC who have played just once to reach the final, after Chipping Norton granted them a walk-over in last week’s scheduled semi-final.
The challenge for the Whippets coaching team led by former Blue Will Thornton was to find 20 players available for selection as we are deep into the University Easter Vacation.
Kick-off is at 2pm, with the gates and Pavilion Bar open at 12noon. Entry is £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and £1 for Under 12’s. Car parking is available on first come first served basis.
