This weekend sees three OURFC teams in action as the home season begins in earnest, following preseason training camps and overseas tours. The weekend starts on Saturday afternoon with the Greyhounds travelling to Aldershot for what will be a stern opening encounter against an Army U23 side, KO is 1400 at the Rugby Stadium, Queen’s Avenue, Aldershot. The Greyhounds squad is a mix of experience and youth, with just seven players in the 24 man squad playing their first games for an OURFC team.

On Sunday lunchtime, following a highly successful tour to Gibraltar including two victories out of two, an OURFC Women’s squad will take on a Bath Rugby Ladies ‘Spartans’ squad KO 1200 at Iffley Road, looking to retain that unbeaten record prior to their opening BUCS league fixture on Wednesday against Sussex University. Captain Hazel Ellender and Coach Kevin Moggridge will use this match to provide game time for some of the experienced whilst using it as an opportunity to look at some of the new talent that has arrived in the last month.

And finally at 1500 on Sunday, also at Iffley Road, the Men’s Blues will face the Croatian National team looking to reverse the result of their last meeting in Dubrovnik last April. Captain Ed David and Coach James Wade have been able to select a strong squad, with only the captain himself and lock Keranan Myall unavailable, meaning twelve Blues are included in the starting XV with a further two on the bench. Reflecting the strength of the development programme in place, there is only one player making their debut for OURFC on Sunday, former Spanish fifteens and sevens international Carlos Blanco, who will come off the bench at some point.
Entry is £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
