On Wednesday afternoon, whilst the Blues lost their unbeaten record to top of the league Cardiff University, the Panthers traveled to Nottingham Trent University for their first BUCS fixture and came away with a highly creditable 37 points to 10 win.

At Iffley Road the Blues started as they left off seven days previously wit strong start from the kick-off which saw them camp in the Cardiff 22 and were rewarded with a try after 10 minutes from fly-half Abby D’Cruz who also converted to give the home side an early 7 point lead. However, this was to be the high point of the afternoon as Cardiff hit back with four tries in the first half to lead at the interval by 22 points to 7. The second half was a very evenly contested affair until the final ten minutes when Cardiff added three tries as the Blues started to tire. Despite the 37 points to 7 loss, there were still positives aspects for the squad to reflect and work-on going forward, particularly with the visit of Bristol University just seven days away.

The Panthers headed north in good spirits, looking forward to their first BUCS fixture and were rewarded for the hard work they have been putting in since the beginning of September with a seven try bonus point victory by 37 points to 10. Scorers for the Panthers were:

Tries: Melanie Onovo (3), Kehinde Lawal (2), Sarah Haynes (1), Isobel Howard (1) Cons: Holly Everest (1)

Back of the Match: Rachel Martin and Forward of the Match: Sarah Haynes
