On Wednesday afternoon, the Women’s Blues made the two hour journey east to face arch rivals Cambridge at Grange Road in the first of three encounters with them this season, this first one in BUCS Premier South. Unfortunately the Light Blues claimed first bragging rights with a 23 points to 5 victory, Oxfords sole try coming from replacement back row forward Emily Cohen.
The Blues will now turn their attention to next Wednesday’s historic occasion when they will face a Major Stanley’s XV invitational side for the first time, kick off 11.30am at Iffley Road.
The Panthers fared much better as they played their first home match of the season in BUCS Midlands tier 3 as they welcomed Lincoln University to the Marston Sports Ground and put in a comprehensive display scoring five tries in a 29 points to 10 victory. Oxfords tries were scored by Megan Isaac (2), Kehinde Lawal (2) and Jo Male with Stella adding two conversions. The Panthers now enjoy a week off before returning to action with a visit to Northampton University on Wednesday 20th November.
