Wednesday 27th saw the Women’s Blues and Panthers in BUCS league action and both secure wins on home turf. In the afternoon the Panthers hosted Angela Ruskin University in the University Parks, and despite miserable wet conditions they played some attractive rugby to run out winners by 20 points to 10. The Oxford try scorers were Kehinde Lawal (2), Rachel Martin and Isobel Howard.

In the evening at Iffley Road the Blues welcomed Swansea University looking to complete the double after a superb away win back in October and once again despite the wet and muddy conditions, they put in a strong performance in their final match before heading to Twickenham for Varsity, winning by 43 points to nil.

Captain Hazel Ellender now has the difficult job of selecting her best 23 to take to Twickenham to face Cambridge in the 31st Women’s Varsity Match, which she will officially announce on Sunday at 6pm in the Vincent’s Club.
