UmRio, the brilliant Brazilian social development NGO OURFC is proud to be associated with, continues to try and raise money to feed its local community. While the Brazilian government has failed in its responsibility to safeguard its citizens, the remarkable young people of UmRio have been delivering food and basic sanitation parcels across their favela community. That is, until their small budget ran out.

To let them continue their amazing work, Will Wilson (Blues in 2015, 16, 17) and his friend Hugh Williams have decided to push the boat out and do something ridiculous. In October, they will attempt to break the world record for the fastest time to visit all 270 stations on the London Underground. The current record, set in 2015, stands at 15 hours 45 minutes 38 seconds.

Accompanied with a lot of planning and timetable studying, they are also conscious of COVID-19 and the need to stay safe. Throughout their attempt, they will wear masks, sanitise their hands before and after boarding each train, and will be tested for COVID-19 before and after their attempt. It’s going to be a tough day, but it’ll be nothing compared to what UmRio’s remarkable young community is doing to help their own.

We know it’s a tough time financially for many people, but if you could find the means to donate even a couple of quid, it would make a huge difference. It only costs £28 to feed a family for a month: fourteen £2 donations! Please find the link to our fundraising page below:
