On Saturday 15th May, members of ‘Ronnie Lamb’s Fan Club’ (Emily, Juliet and triplet Jackie) plus others will be undertaking a ‘500 Minute Walk’ to not only raise funds for Alzheimers Research but also to raise awareness of the condition suffered by so many. Ronnie Lamb studied Geography at Teddy Hall and won three Blues in the mid-60’s, including memorably Captaining the team to a famous Varsity victory in 1964. On leaving Oxford this was by no means the last OURFC saw of Ronnie, as he would be a regular visitor to Iffley Rd to support the Blues and in the 2000’s served as OURFC Chairman, where he very happily shared his knowledge and experience of the game to the current Captain and players.

The intrepid walkers will fittingly start at Iffley Road, where 2021 Men’s Blues Captain George Messum and his squad will be present to wish them well and see them off at 9.30am, before they follow the Thames Path upstream, bravely taking a dip in the cold water at Port Meadow (cold water is now recognised to protect the brain from degenerative diseases), then continue along the river and see where the time takes them; but they do expect to walk the equivalent of a marathon by the completion of 500 minutes!

With your help and generosity, they hope to make a big difference. Here is the link to our JustGiving page if you would like to sponsor us:
