David (Dai) Evans played at inside centre for the Dark Blues in the 1988 Varsity Match, when Oxford secured a memorable 27 points to 7 victory over the Light Blues, with Dai notching a try at Twickenham on Tuesday 6th December. Dai then went on to enjoy a stellar first class rugby career including 117 appearances for Cardiff, 93 for Treorchy and gaining 12 Welsh Caps including an appearance at the 1991 Rugby World Cup. On retiring from rugby Dai pursued a career in Sports Administration and is currently working for the Welsh Government playing a part in bringing in major sporting events to Wales, such as the 2017 Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid, which was staged at the Principality Stadium.
