Last week was another busy week for OURFC teams, however COVID reared its head again, with the Women’s Blues BUCS League match at home to Swansea University on Wednesday evening postponed.
The Panthers travelled to league leaders Loughborough University 3rds and despite the loss, took positives from the performance against a very strong team. The Whippets BUCS Cup run came to an end in University Parks when they lost a tight match, by 10 points to nil to Birmingham City University. On Friday night the Men’s Blues were in Dublin for their traditional annual fixture with Trinity College and came up against a team in fine form and on a run of success, leading to a loss by 46 points to 12, plenty of work to do over the next eight weeks. And finally on Saturday afternoon, the Greyhounds travelled to Aldershot, where they faced a strong Amry Development XV, and went down by 41 points to 5, a slightly flattering score line for the servicemen.
As we enter 4th week, only the Men’s and Women’s Blues have fixtures in the next seven days as the other three OURFC squads continue preparations for their Varsity Matches on the 12th March. On Wednesday evening the Women’s Blues welcome Cambridge University Blues to Iffley Rd, KO 1800 for possibly their final BUCS League fixture of the season, looking to reverse the result at Grange Road back in October and set a marker down for Varsity in April. Please do come down and support them against the Light Blues. Then on Friday night the Men’s Blues travel to Aldershot to face the Army Senior XV, KO 1930 at the Army Stadium,
