This Wednesday, the Panthers played the third game of the season and for many players their third game ever. Brookes were a mixed bag of abilities but we didn’t scare easy. The game represented a strong defensive strategy but unfortunately Brookes were a formidable opponent. Alysia Martinez scored the try in the first half which was made possible by consistently pushing Brookes back. This reflected the Panther’s strategy going into the game as a lot of time was spent in Brookes’ side of the pitch and most Brookes’ tries were from out in the wing. Our defensive line improved steadily as the game went on and by last 20 minutes, we made it incredibly difficult for the other side to slip through and score. Our persistence in tackling and looking for opportunities to gain possession of the ball meant that were able to wear down the momentum of the other team and block many potential tries. The Panthers are looking increasingly connected as a team and improvements in both our defence and attack are clear to see.
